Dunedin Animal Medical Center also includes the Feline Leukemia vaccine in this program because in Florida, pets are more social. Briefly, during any scheduled Pet Wellness Examination your pet will receive any “CORE” vaccinations that they need for FREE. Preventative Care Exam

Your pet’s Preventative Care Exam should be completed every 12 months. Young Pets, Older Pets and pets with existing medical conditions should be examined more frequently. Please discuss your individual pet’s needs with your pet doctor.

Cat Rabies Vaccine

Rabies Vaccines are available as a 1-year or 3-year vaccination. Your pet’s first rabies vaccine (by Florida law) is only good for 12 months. After that you may choose either a 1 or 3-year vaccine. We recommend the 3-year rabies vaccine. Over-time it will cost you less and and many consider it healthier for your pet.

Cat Distemper Vaccine

Distemper has the same 1 or 3-year availability as the rabies vaccine. The Distemper vaccine manufacturer, Zoetis, recommends that this vaccine be repeated at 12 months of age then every three years thereafter. We agree with that recommendation.

Other Cat Vaccinations

Other cat vaccinations are available and are generally not recommended for cats.
